Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited is an Indian multinational hospital chain, headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded by Prathap C. Reddy in 1983 as the first corporate healthcare provider in India. Several of the Apollo’s hospitals have been among the first in India to receive international healthcare accreditation by the America-based Joint Commission International (JCI) as well as 13 NABH National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers hospitals.

Apollo Hospitals has emerged as Asia’s foremost integrated healthcare services provider and has a robust presence across the healthcare ecosystem, including Hospitals, Pharmacies, Primary Care and Diagnostic Clinics and several retail health models. The Group also has Telemedicine facilities across several countries, Health Insurance Services, Global Projects Consultancy, Medical Colleges, Med varsity for E-Learning, Colleges of Nursing and Hospital Management and a Research Foundation. In addition, ‘ASK Apollo’ – an online consultation portal and Apollo Home Health provide the care continue.

The company’s CSR activities covers the thrust areas such as: Rural Development, Healthcare, Research in Healthcare, Education, Skill Development and Vocational Training. In addition to this, Apollo Foundation also works extensively in the areas of Pediatric Cardiology, Cancer Care, Cardiovascular Risk Awareness, Hearing Impairment, Medical Awareness Campaigns, Distance Healthcare and Disaster Relief Programmes. 

COVID-19 Response:

Apollo has a 24/7 round-the-clock doctor helpline and online consultation with Apollo certified doctors. They had dedicated more than 2,000 beds for the treatment of COVID-19. Additionally, their hospitals supported an initiative by the Medical Council of India and Telemedicine Society of India to sensitize and train doctors around the country for deploying tele-health services on a wide scale. Project ‘Kavach’ included preventive measures, online self-assessment for risk, testing, isolation/quarantine rooms, to treatment, hospital beds, and ICU facilities for critically ill patients. Their partnerships with several hotel chains and other organizations helped them to set-up quarantine facilities in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Delhi. The partnerships pooled 5,000 isolation rooms across the cities in proximity to their hospitals. The diagnostic laboratories in several of their hospitals were authorized by the Indian Council of Medical Research to conduct COVID-19 tests in India.

Their shareholding pattern consists of Promoters and Promoter Group having 29.82% of shares, Public having 5.88% shares, Government having 0.23% following by FII’s having 53.23% shares and DII’s with 10.85% shares.
