PVR Cinemas is a film entertainment company in India. The company started as a joint venture agreement between Priya Exhibitors Private Limited and Village Roadshow Limited in 1995 with 60:40 ratio. It began its operations in 1997. PVR Ltd. is the market leader in terms of screen count in India. Currently, they operate 845 screens in 176 cinemas in 71 cities in India and Sri Lanka with an aggregate seating capacity of approximately 1.82 lakhs seats.
PVR offer a diversified cinema viewing experience through various formats, including ‘PVR Director’s Cut’, ‘PVR LUXE’, ‘PVR IMAX’, ‘PVR Superplex’, ‘PVR P[XL]’, ‘PVR Playhouse’, ‘PVR ECX’, ‘PVR Premiere’, ‘PVR ICON’, ‘PVR LUXE’, ‘PVR Cinemas’ and ‘PVR Utsav’, and pursuant to the acquisition and amalgamation of SPI Cinemas, ‘Escape’, ‘Sathyam’ and ‘Palazzo’. The Company exhibits diversified content to serve different regional customer segments across India. The company is also known for cultivating and spreading international movie culture countrywide and supports independent filmmakers under the banner of ‘Directors Rare’.
The company also operates a pro-active CSR wing under PVR. They are dedicated to preserve and protect the environment with due concern for ecology, clean air and meet high levels of pollution and emission standards.
For the quarter ended 31-03-2021, the company has reported a Consolidated Total Income of Rs 26,326 Crore, down by 17.77% when compared to last quarter Total Income of Rs 32,013 Crore and down by 60.21% from last year same quarter Total Income of Rs 66,178 Crore. The company has reported a net loss of Rs 28,921 Crore in the latest quarter.
