J.K. Cement Limited is an Indian industrial conglomerate, with headquarters in Delhi, Kanpur and Mumbai. The JK group was founded in 1918. The Company has over four decades of experience in cement manufacturing. Their operations commenced with commercial production at their first grey cement plant at Nimbahera, Rajasthan in May 1975. Subsequently, the company also set up 2 more units in Rajasthan at Mangrol and Gotan.
JK Cement was the first company to install a captive power plant in the year 1987 at Bamania, Rajasthan and the first cement company to install a waste heat recovery power plant to take care of the need of green power. The Company has captive power generation capacity of over 125.7 MWs which includes 23.2 MW of waste heat recovery power plants.
The company’s CSR activities covers the thrust areas such as: education, health care, community welfare, spirituality, vocational training. Driven by the religious ethos of JK Organisation, JK Cement Ltd manages temples, providing places of worship at Kanpur and its plants at Nimbahera and Gotan. Special care has been taken to enrich lives by initiating significant infrastructural projects for the development of areas around the plants. These include RO water supply, sewage plant, road development and biogas plant. dynamic measures have been taken to bring healthcare within the reach of general public. Initiatives like free eye check-up, annual blood donation camp etc. are taken up from time to time. In Education they have always believed that quality education and knowledge dissemination are critical pillars for a nation to prosper. Their educational institutions comprise K-12 schools, universities and technical institutes, at various places across the country. Sir Padampat Singhania University at Udaipur and L.K. Singhania Education Centre at Gotan.
JK Cement has a stringent eco-friendly policy. JK Cement Ltd. is also a member of the prestigious Indian Green Building Council. Afforestation is carried out at all the four mines as a part of the mining process. Till date, a total of 2,85,396 plants have been planted covering a total area of over 65 hectares. Necessary arrangement for watering these plants, has also been done in the form of construction of 6 water tanks combined with the facilitation of direct water supply pipelines and water tankers.
They have also focussed on Waste Dump Management. Some waste like Interstitial Clay, when generated, is excavated separately and dumped at the specified places. These waste dumps are being properly levelled which are then covered with black cotton soil scraped from other parts of the pit only. This forms the bed for plantation or afforestation. The height of the dumps is kept only 5 to 6 metres.
Their shareholding pattern consists of Promoters and Promoter Group having 46.21% of shares, Public having 15.11% shares, Government having 0.86% followed by FII’s having 10.26% shares and DII’s with 27.56% shares.
