Bata India is the largest retailer and leading manufacturer of footwear in India and is a part of the Bata Shoe Organization. Incorporated as Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in 1931. Bata Corporation is a Czech multinational footwear and fashion accessory manufacturer and retailer, founded in the town of Zlín, today in the Czech Republic. It is now based in Lausanne, Switzerland. A family-owned business, the company is organized into three business units: Bata, Bata Industrials (safety shoes) and AW Lab (sports style). The company is the world’s leading shoemaker by volume, and it has a retail presence of over 5,300 shops in more than 70 countries and production facilities in 18 countries.The CSR initiatives of the company are Bata Children’s Programme (BCP) is a global programme which aims to work for the underprivileged children in and around their areas of operations. Under BCP, they have adopted 7 schools in India and work with more than 4,000 children and school authorities. Online Learning Management System, Virtual Sports Programme for the children, Online Science Programme, Online Library sessions & Teacher Training, ensured continued on-ground support, adopted different methodologies to keep virtual studies interesting during lockdown. Girl Child Empowerment through Project Nanhi Kali and also they align Clean Water & Sanitation, Good Health & Well Being and Partnership for Goals.They donated +1.92 lac pairs of footwear to the medical workers and their families at the government & private hospitals, ASHA & Aaganwadi workers, small clinics, charitable hospitals, police, children, etc. across +30 cities.Covid-19 Response:When the pandemic hit the country, the company decided to reach out to the underprivileged and frontline workers in & around their areas of operations. 1,000 hygiene kits consisting of sanitizer, masks, dental hygiene, personal hygiene, etc. along with +1.10 lac meals/dry ration packets were distributed to the children at BCP schools and communities at large. They strategically reached out to the frontline workers like police, hospitals, etc. and donated +4,000 hygiene kits & 2,000 immunity booster kits through Ayush Ministry. During the lockdown in factories, masks and face shields are made. +35,000 masks and +4,000 face shields were donated to the police, ESI hospitals and other essential departments.Their shareholding pattern consists of Promoters and Promoter Group having 52.96% of shares, Public having 14.51% shares, following by FII’s having 5.23% shares and DII’s with 27.3% shares.
