NTPC Limited, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, is an Indian government-owned electric utility company. It engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities. It is a company incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 and is under the ownership of Ministry of Power, Government of India. The headquarters of the company is situated at New Delhi.
NTPC Ltd. engages in the electric power generation by coal based thermal power plant. It operates through the following two segments: Generation of Energy and Others. The Generation of Energy segment involves in the generation and sale of bulk power to State Power utilities. The others segment includes provision of consultancy, project management and supervision, energy trading, oil and gas exploration, and coal mining.

natural gas exploration, production, transportation and distribution.

COVID-19 Measures:
NTPC arranged 600+ oxygen beds & 1200 isolation beds. The company have provided 2000 industrial cylinders to district administrations which are being converted & used as medical oxygen cylinders. NTPC has been organising COVID-19 vaccination drives across its plants. NTPC is bearing the cost of full medical expenses for employees and their dependent family members for treatment of Covid-19 taken in any Private or Non-Empanelled Hospitals.
Their shareholding pattern consists of Promoters and Promoter Group having 51.10% of shares, Public having 2.76% shares, Government having 0.09% following by FII’s having 13.13% shares and DII’s with 32.93% shares.
