Ashok Leyland is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturer, headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is owned by the Hinduja Group. It was founded in 1948 as Ashok Motors and became Ashok Leyland in the year 1955. It is 3rd largest Manufacturer of buses in the world, 10th largest manufacturer of trucks in world and 2nd largest manufacturer of commercial vehicle in India. It is a $2.3 billion company, and a footprint that extends across 50 countries, the company is one of the most fully integrated manufacturing companies. Ashok Leyland has a product range from 1T GVW to 55T GTW in trucks, 9 to 80-seater buses, vehicles for defence and special applications, and diesel engines for industrial, genset and marine applications. Operating nine plants, Ashok Leyland also makes spare parts and engines for industrial and marine applications. As a responsible corporate citizen, Ashok Leyland contributed Rs 41 Lakh to PM Cares Fund. Ashok Leyland has contributed a sum of Rs 5 crore towards Covid relief initiatives in Tamil Nadu. Of this Rs 3 crore was handed over to the Chief Minister for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. In addition, Rs 2 crore is being directly invested in setting up of Oxygen Generation Plants in Hosur Govt Hospital and providing Ventilator Beds, Oxygen Cylinders, Oxygen Concentrators to Stanley Medical College Hospital. Ashok Leyland has spent Rs 41.52 Crore in CSR Activities related to education and sanitation in FY20.Their shareholding pattern include Promoters having 51.54% shares, FIIs having 18.08% shares, DIIs having 16.72% shares, Public having 13.58% and Government having 0.08% shares.For the quarter ended 31-03-2021, the company has reported a Consolidated Total Income of Rs 8176.73 Crore, up 36.27% from last quarter Total Income of Rs 6000.20 Crore and up 35.43% from last year same quarter Total Income of Rs 6037.18Crore. Company has reported net profit after tax of Rs 377.13 Crore in latest quarter.
