Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence electronics company. It primarily manufactures advanced electronic products for ground and aerospace applications. BEL is one of nine PSUs under the Ministry of Defence of India. It has been granted Navratna status by the Government of India.
BEL is a multi-product, multi-technology, multi-Unit conglomerate boasting of over 350 products in the areas of Radars, Missile Systems, Military Communications, Naval Systems, Electronic Warfare & Avionics, C4I Systems, Electro Optics, Tank Electronics & Gun/Weapon System Upgrades, Solar Photovoltaic Systems, Electronic Components, and civilian products. The gamut of products includes small components costing a few rupees to huge systems costing crores of rupees. With its expertise developed over the years, the company also provides turnkey systems solutions. While Defence continues to contribute to nearly 80 to 85% of its revenue, BEL has touched a chord with the common man through civilian products like solar traffic signals and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). BEL’s reliable and tamper-proof EVMs have redefined voting in India, facilitating free and fair elections. BEL’s customers include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Paramilitary, Coast Guard, Police, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Department of Telecommunications, and consumers of professional electronic components.
Starting from a single Unit in Jalahalli, Bangalore, BEL has established its presence across the country by setting up eight other Units – in Ghaziabad, Pune, Machilipatnam, Panchkula, Kotdwara, Navi Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Each Unit has a specific product mix and customer focus. BEL has also set up a wide network of offices and service centres countrywide as well as two overseas offices – at New York and Singapore.
As a responsible corporate citizen, BEL contributed Rs 12.71 crores to PM CARES Fund as its contribution in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) donated medical equipment worth about ₹10 lakh to the Police Welfare Hospital. Company has done several developments for providing books and building Smart Classrooms by spending their CSR Funds.
Their shareholding pattern include Promoters having 51.14% shares, FIIs having 11.58% shares, DIIs having 30.21% shares and Public having 7.07% shares.
For the quarter ended 31-03-2021, the company has reported a Consolidated Total Income of Rs 6974.98 Crore, up 197.58% from last quarter Total Income of Rs 2343.90 Crore and up 197.58% from last year same quarter Total Income of Rs 5845.41 Crore. Company has reported net profit after tax of Rs 1386.15 Crore in latest quarter.
